Looking back at the last week,
                           the last month,
                           the last year,
                           the last twenty-three years,

I am overwhelmed by one truth: People need people.

People do not need people to be happy.
People do not need people to be positive.
People do not need people to be fulfilled.

But people do need people.

People need people, sobbing on their bedroom floor.
People need people, drunk and abandoned in the hallway.
People need people, unsure of the next year (sometimes the next day).

People need
            hugs
            encouragement
            laughter
            kisses
            from people.

People need people.
I need people.

People need you.
I need you.
